To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Alice in Wonderland and with the generous permission of the British Library, we present to you an exquisite reproduction of the original manuscript "Alice’s Adventures Under Ground," a priceless treasure for young and old.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of the most cherished children’s stories of all time. It has also become one of the most significant and influential novels in history. Generations of us have grown up with the surreal world down the rabbit hole filled with whimsical characters like the Mad Hatter, the Mock Turtle, the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat. However did you know the first version of the story didn’t even have a tea party? This famous story exists in an earlier version, one produced slowly but surely by hand, over two years as a Christmas gift for a little girl named Alice Liddell.
This magnificent manuscript is an insightful journey into the origins of this enchanting tale. With 37 illustrations by Lewis Carroll’s own hand, it is a remarkable look into his imagination and artistic talent. Not long after his friends had read this little book, they convinced him it must be published. The story was expanded, edited, and illustrated by a professional artist Sir John Tenniel, and released 150 years ago as the story we all know "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland."
This is the closest thing to the real book available today, yes there have been other facsimile (reproductions) in the past, but none compare to the authenticity of this edition! Most other editions are just reprints of the photo’s or include introductions at the front of the book, and well simply don’t look like the real book. We wanted to keep ours as authentic as possible. So instead our edition includes a companion booklet that describes the story and history of the manuscript.
100% designed and made in Australia – printed on extremely high quality Mohawk paper, and using the highest quality materials we could find, this edition was made to last!
Successfully launched via Kickstarter in October, we are now ready to release to book to the public!
This is our first major publication, and we are excited to finally share it with you all! We started on Etsy, and we wanted to make our first real Publication available on here.
